Privacy Policy

Hawamaan is a free weather app made by Ilika LLC (“ilika”, “we”), a New Jersey company that trades as ilika Geospatial. This policy explains what information the app uses and where it goes.

Summary

The app has no accounts, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. ilika does not run a server for the app and does not store any information about you. The only personal information the app handles is your location, and it uses that only to fetch the weather for where you are.

Location

When you allow location access, the app reads your phone’s location while the app is open. It sends the coordinates to two services to get the information shown on screen:

• Open-Meteo, which returns the weather forecast for those coordinates.
• BigDataCloud, which returns the name of the nearest town, so that the app can show where the forecast is for.

The coordinates are used only for these requests. ilika does not receive or keep them. You can decline location access and search for a place by name instead. You can change the permission at any time in your phone’s settings.

Place search

When you search for a place, the text you type is sent to Open-Meteo’s place-name service to find matching towns. Nothing else is sent with it.

Satellite maps

The maps are images requested from NASA’s Global Imagery Browse Services. These requests contain the map area and time and no information about you.

Information stored on your phone

The app saves your chosen language, the last place you looked at and the most recent forecast on your phone, so that it can start quickly and work without a connection. This information never leaves your phone. Uninstalling the app deletes it.

Sharing

The share button creates a short text of the current forecast. It is sent only if you choose an app to send it with.

Third-party services

Like any internet service, Open-Meteo, BigDataCloud and NASA see the internet address of the phone making the request. Their handling of that information is described in their own privacy policies. ilika has no agreement with them to receive information about you, and does not receive any.

Children

The app is suitable for all ages. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new effective date.
